OKC Police Arrest Transient On Rape Charge

A transient is in the Oklahoma County Jail Friday after allegedly raping a woman walking along railroad tracks between General Pershing Blvd. and NW 10th near Villa Ave.

Police said the victim was searching for her purse just after 10 a.m. Thursday. She believed she could've dropped it the night before. While searching, police said the victim was approached by a man coming out of the nearby woods. The victim told police he threw her over his shoulder and carried her back into the woods. Despite her efforts to escape and scream for help, the victim told police she was raped by 49-year-old John Allen Payashape.

Police found the suspect matching the description in the area where the reported incidents happened. Officers took him to the hospital, where the victim confirmed him as the suspect.

Payashape was booked into the Oklahoma County Jail Thursday, charged with rape.
