A teenage girl escaped to her neighbor's front door begging for help after watching her mother get stabbed to death.

The girl survived, and her stepfather is in jail.

Bartlesville Police said the 15-year-old girl was flown to Saint Francis; neighbors said she escaped from a bathroom window and ran to a home across the street for help.

Glenda Leathers and her daughters were stunned when they saw a teenager covered in blood banging on their front door window.

“She's a brave little girl," Leathers said. “I didn't know what to do, I felt helpless so I called 911 and she just kept begging me to help her mother, her mother, 'go get my mother.'"

Before Bartlesville Police arrived, Leathers said she came outside to see a horrible scene on the front lawn.

“We kept telling him to stop, he wouldn't stop, we said ‘stop before you go to jail,' he said, 'I'm going to jail anyway,' and he picked up a metal chair and started beating him over and over," she said.

Police arrested Steven Adair who they said stabbed and killed his wife Crystal and his stepson Charles Lee.

Police said Lee was found dead in the front yard.

Flowers now sit near the mailbox and crime scene tape surrounds the Bartlesville home.

“It's ruined a lot of people's lives because of it. He's got children that are going to have to grow up without a father as well because of his choices. Of course their family, Crystal's family, is ruined,” a family friend said.

Friends are remembering Crystal Adair as a great mother to her children.

“She was a good woman, she worked hard, took care of her family. She loved him, loved his kids, she put him on a pedestal, she loved him," the friend said.

The 15 year old's condition is unknown at Saint Francis Hospital, we know she attended the junior high school in Bartlesville.

School officials said counselors are on hand to help anyone affected by the tragedy.
