Police have identified a man who reportedly shot and killed another man in northwest Oklahoma City, early Tuesday morning.

Police have identified a man who reportedly shot and killed another man in northwest Oklahoma City, early Tuesday morning.

According to police, officers responded to the report of a shooting at an apartment in the 6000 block of N.W. 10th Street. When officers arrived, they found the victim, 39-year-old James Hunter, shot to death inside the apartment.

The suspect, 27-year-old Ladameon Darnell Knox, was taken into custody in the parking lot of the apartment complex. He was booked into the Oklahoma County Jail on one count of first-degree murder.

During the investigation, officers learned that Hunter and Knox were two of the several people living in the apartment. Hunter was the boyfriend of Knox's mother.

Although there was no altercation immediately preceding the shooting, police said there had been ill feelings between Knox and Hunter for some time.
