Reading really came to life for some Tulsa students Friday. Robertson Elementary's Partner in Education, Executive Women International, brought in two local authors to read their books to the students.

Dana Rowe presented her book "Pavo Explores the Solar System," and Julie Brothers read from "The Adventures of GUM."

After the stories, the kids also got to pick out a book to take home with them.

"When you're at an at-risk school, kids don't always have access to their own reading material. To encourage kids to be readers, life-long readers, we want them to have their own personal library so this is just a first step in getting books into their homes, their bedrooms," said Candace Stine, Robertson Elementary Principal.

The students were also given a book bag to carry their new book and some school supplies.
