The Oklahoma Highway Patrol stopped an elderly woman driving the wrong way on I-44 in east Tulsa early Wednesday.

Troopers said the Tulsa woman, who is in her 80s, was headed west in the eastbound lanes. The OHP got the call at 3:30 a.m. about a Mitsubishi Lancer going the wrong way on I-44 at 161st East Avenue. She told troopers she had gotten disoriented on her way home from Dallas and was afraid to make a U-turn on the highway.

The OHP says the woman had driven the wrong way for possibly 10 miles before a trooper stopped her near the interchange with the Broken Arrow Expressway.

Troopers said there were no accidents as a result of the incident.
