An Amber Alert has been canceled after a missing 5-year-old boy was found safe early Wednesday morning.

Enid police were looking for 5-year old Anastacio Reyes, Jr. The child's father reportedly took the boy from his mother late Tuesday night following a knife attack that injured the boy's mom.

According to the Oklahoma Amber Alert Coordinator, Texas County Sheriff's deputies in Guymon, Oklahoma, were able to catch up with the suspect as he tried to take off for Boise City. The 5-year-old boy is now safe and with Sheriff's deputies in Guymon.

That Amber Alert went out shortly before 2 a.m. Wednesday. Anastacio Reyes was taken by his 32-year-old father who has the same name, Anastacio Reyes.

Reyes was visiting the boy and his mother at their home in Enid, celebrating the boy's first day back to school when a fight between the parents broke out.

Police said Reyes attacked the woman with a knife and took off with boy. The woman suffered a deep cut in her arm.

The suspect was also said to be intoxicated. This fit Amber Alert criteria because the child's mother has full custody of the child, and because of Reyes being intoxicated that put the child in danger.

We’ve also learned that despite Reyes being intoxicated and driving his truck, the boy was not hurt in all this.

It's still unclear what charges he could face but it's possible he could face a felony charge of assault with a deadly weapon.
