Second Earthquake Strikes In Alfalfa County

A 3.8 magnitude earthquake shook up Alfalfa County, near the town of Cherokee, Sunday evening.

This most recent quake was recorded eight miles northeast of Cherokee, or about 102 miles north, northwest of the Oklahoma City metro, at a depth of three miles.

It was the second temblor to shake up the county on Sunday. The first, a 2.6 magnitude quake, struck just before noon in Cherokee, at a depth of about two and a half miles.

No damage or injuries have been reported with any of Sunday's earthquakes.

According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), earthquakes with magnitudes ranging from 2.5 to 3.0 are generally the smallest ones felt by humans. Damage is more likely with quakes at a magnitude 4.0 and higher.
