OHP: Driver Smelling Of Alcohol Hits, Kills Sayre Child In Pasture

Oklahoma Highway Patrol is investigating after a pickup truck driver hit and killed a 4-year-old boy in a Beckham County pasture.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers say a 4-year-old child was killed when he was struck by a driver who smelled of alcohol.

It happened just after 4 p.m. Friday in a field about a mile southeast of Sayre in Beckham County, according to a collision report. The investigating trooper says a 4-year-old boy was in the pasture when he was struck and killed by a pickup driven by 26-year-old Brandon Ryan Dowler.

Dowler was westbound in the pasture when he hit the boy, the report states. The investigating trooper says the Sayre resident smelled of alcohol.

Troopers are still investigating the wreck. They did not release the name of the 4-year-old boy.
