Rudy Owens fired seven scoreless innings and the RedHawks offense re-emerged one night after being shutout, as the RedHawks started their eight-game road trip with a 6-0 blanking of the Fresno Grizzlies Tuesday night at Chukchansi Park.

Owens (7-5) combined with relievers Jorge De Leon and Kevin Chapman to pitch the RedHawks' fifth shutout of the season and their first since May 20 in New Orleans. The Grizzlies (59-65) only had one runner reach scoring position, and the RedHawks (63-62) did not allow a hit after the third inning. The trio of RedHawks pitchers retired 19 of Fresno's final 20 batters.

Owens tied a season high with seven innings. He gave up two singles with three walks and five strikeouts. At one point between the third and sixth innings, Owens retired 11 straight batters.

He walked Mark Minicozzi to start the seventh, but then coaxed a double play off the bat of Chris Dominguez. Owens finished his night be retiring 13 of the last 14 batters he faced.

De Leon and Chapman retired the side in order the eighth and ninth inning, respectively.

One night after being shutout against Iowa, the RedHawks scored right away first inning. Jonathan Villar led off the game with a double, and Joe Sclafani followed with a sacrifice bunt to move Villar to third base. Villar then scored on a RBI groundout by Ronny Torreyes.

Following a similar script, the RedHawks added to their lead in the fifth. Carlos Perez drew a leadoff walk, and Max Stassi followed with a bunt single. Ruben Sosa moved both runners into scoring position with a sac bunt. Villar then notched a RBI groundout to make it 2-0.

Oklahoma City pushed the lead to 3-0 in the seventh inning. With none on and two out, Sosa singled. He then stole second base and advanced to third on the play after a throwing error by Fresno catcher Guillermo Quiroz. After Villar walked, Sclafani knocked a RBI single up the middle.

The RedHawks doubled their lead in the eighth. A sac fly by Andrew Aplin put the RedHawks in front 4-0. Perez stepped up next and blasted a two-run homer to left field. His sixth homer of the season made it a six-run game.

Fresno starting pitcher Jason Berken set a season high with 7.2 innings, but he also set a season high with 11 hits and tied a season high six runs (five earned). Berken (9-9) walked three and struck out two.

With the win, the RedHawks gained a game in the American Northern Division standings, as first-place Iowa fell at home to Las Vegas. With 19 games remaining, the RedHawks sit three games back of the Cubs for the division lead.

The RedHawks continue their series in Fresno at 9:05 p.m. Central Wednesday.
