Crews Recover Body Of Drowning Victim At Cimarron County Lake

Authorities have recovered the body of a man who drowned at Lake Carl Etling in Cimarron County.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, 59-year-old Douglas W. Ottinger of Boise City, was last heard from at 7:36 a.m. on Sunday.

Ottinger reportedly launched his boat and went to park his pickup and trailer in the parking lot. However, his boat drifted away from the boat ramp and he went to retrieve it. That’s when he went under water and never re-surfaced, according to the OHP report.

At about 11 a.m. on Monday, a dive team recovered Ottinger’s body at the lake. His body has been transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Oklahoma City.
