OKLAHOMA CITY -

A sting operation last Thursday night, involving more than two dozen Oklahoma City convenience stores, resulted in several arrests.

Undercover officers sent young people under the age of 21 into convenience stores to buy beer.

Clerks at eight of 27 convenience stores sold beer to underage buyers.

Police Spokesman Gary Knight says police conduct these kinds of stings periodically.

“It's never safe to sell to a minor, because you are dealing with a juvenile.” Knight said.

One clerk, who was ticketed by police at the Reload convenience store at 32nd and S. Shields, told me he would try to do better.

“Is this kind of a wake-up call?” I asked. “I think so,” Atique Mohammed said.

None of the clerks ticketed last Thursday were taken to jail.
