The Iowa Cubs tied up their current series against the Oklahoma City RedHawks with an 8-5 win Friday and ended the RedHawks' five-game winning streak in front of a crowd of 8,807 at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.

Iowa (64-57) extended to a three-game lead over the RedHawks (61-60) in the American Northern Division standings with the win in the second meeting of a five-game set between the teams.

In the top of the second inning, Rafael Lopez connected on a line drive single to right field with the bases loaded and two outs to bring home two runs for a 2-0 Iowa lead.

With runners at second and third and Jio Mier batting, a passed ball by Lopez allowed Matt Duffy to score the first run of the night for the RedHawks in the bottom of the second inning. Mier then connected on a two-out RBI single to bring home Andrew Aplin and knot the game, 2-2.

Jorge Solar hit a two-run homer over the RedHawks bullpen in left field to put Iowa ahead, 4-2, in the top of the third inning.

Ronny Torreyes doubled to lead off the bottom of the third inning. Fowler then connected on his second hit in as many at-bats, a RBI single on a soft line drive to left field, to score Torreyes and cut Iowa's lead to 4-3.

The I-Cubs added three runs in the top of the fifth inning. A RBI double by Mike Olt gave Iowa a 5-3 lead. With the bases loaded, Elliot Soto hit a RBI single before Lopez drew a bases-loaded walk to put Iowa in front, 7-3.

A RBI double by Solar in the top of the sixth inning gave Iowa a five-run lead.

Carlos Perez replaced Fowler in the eighth inning and led off with a double. He scored on a double to center field by Preston Tucker to cut Iowa's lead to 8-4. A RBI groundout by Andrew Aplin cut Iowa's lead to three runs.

RedHawks pitcher Nick Tropeano (7-5) was charged with the loss. He gave up seven runs on six hits, walked four and struck out six.
