Several Earthquakes Reported In Logan County

The United States Geological Survey has reported several earthquakes Friday in Logan County.


The first earthquake, a 3.2 magnitude, was recorded at 1:07 p.m. Its epicenter was located two miles south of Guthrie and 13 miles north, northeast of Edmond. It was about three miles deep.

Then at 3:21 p.m., a 3.4 magnitude earthquake was recorded three miles south, southeast of Guthrie and 11 miles north, northeast of Edmond. The reported depth was less than one mile.

At 3:45 p.m., a 3.0 magnitude quake was recorded three miles south of Guthrie and 11 miles north, northeast of Edmond. It was reported at a depth of over three miles. 

The last earthquake in this series was recorded at 3:58 p.m., three miles southeast of Guthrie and 13 miles north, northeast of Edmond. It was reported as a 3.1 magnitude and at a depth of over three miles.

There are no reports of major injury or damage at this time.

According to the USGS, earthquakes with magnitudes ranging from 2.5 to 3.0 are generally the smallest ones felt by humans. Damage is more likely from quakes at a 4.0 magnitude and higher.
