Oklahoma City Completes Sweep Of Sky Sox

The Oklahoma City RedHawks wrapped up their four-game series against the Colorado Springs Sky Sox with a 7-3 win Tuesday to secure a series sweep at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark in front of a crowd of 3,819.

The series sweep was the second of the season for the RedHawks (60-59) and their first home sweep in 2014.

The Sky Sox (47-70) took the lead in the top of the first inning, scoring all three of their runs in the frame, but the RedHawks responded with five runs in the bottom of the inning to take the lead for good.

Tuesday's win gave the RedHawks a fourth straight win for the first time since May 12-16, and secured a winning record in the season series with Colorado Springs, 9-7.

Carlos Perez went 2-for-4 with two RBI and a stolen base to lead the RedHawks. Matt Duffy also drove in two runs, singled and scored twice for Oklahoma City.

In the top of the first inning, Matt McBride hit a two-run double to center field to give the Sky Sox an early 2-0 lead. Kyle Parker followed with a sacrifice fly to bring home McBride for the third run of the inning for Colorado Springs.

The RedHawks loaded the bases in the bottom of the frame with one out.

Duffy stepped up to the plate and a wild pitch by Sky Sox pitcher Dan Houston allowed Jonathan Villar to score from third base. Duffy then connected on a two-run single to tie the game, 3-3.

Later in the inning, Perez hit a two-run double to right field to put the RedHawks in front, 5-3.

A two-out RBI single by Ruben Sosa in the bottom of the third inning gave Oklahoma City a 6-3 lead.

With Villar batting, Sosa was caught stealing and Perez, who got on base with a single, scored on the play for a 7-3 RedHawks advantage.

RedHawks starting pitcher Alex White (2-4) pitched a season-high six innings, allowing three runs on five hits, walking two and striking out a season-high six.

Jason Stoffel pitched the final 1.1 innings, allowing one run and striking out four to earn his 10th save of the season.

Houston (2-4) was charged with the loss for the Sky Sox, allowing five runs on three hits and walking four in one-third of an inning.

After having Wednesday off, the RedHawks continue their nine-game homestand and open a pivotal five-game series against the American Northern Division leading Iowa Cubs at 7:05 p.m. Thursday at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. Thursday is $1 beer night presented by Coors Light, and gates open at 6 p.m.
