Jim Gardner and Bob Mills SkyNews 9 HD were in the air Tuesday as a minivan slammed into a home in Midwest City. Three people were inside as the van tore through the living room. Amazingly, they made it out, and now one of them described the close call.

Neighbors say the minivan had to have been going at least 45 miles per hour, although Midwest City police say speed and alcohol was not a factor in the crash. The posted speed limit is 25-miles-per hour. The driver apparently missed a sharp turn and plowed right the home.

“I’m still in a dream world,” said homeowner, James Adams. “I thought, was it an earthquake, or did somebody shoot a bomb at the house?”

Adams stood in front of his home, still amazed that he and his family made it out alive.

“We were sitting in that living room watching television, just relaxing, and all of a sudden, I heard a big boom. I’m flying through the air from the living room, went in the kitchen,” said Adams.

The dodge minivan was traveling southbound on McGregor when the woman driving it lost control.

“And for some reason, she didn’t slow down and make the turn. She ended up going up in the front yard, and through the front of this house,” said Midwest City Asst. Fire Chief, Glenn Brown.

“I thought something exploded. I didn’t know what happened,” said Adams.

Amazingly, James was able to get up without a scratch, but his 27-year-old disabled daughter was covered in debris, screaming for help.

“I tried to help her, but my wife panicked, and she’s screaming and panicking and I didn’t know what was going on,” said Adams. “I’m looking up and I’m seeing this car in my living room, and I’m saying, ‘What is this car doing here?’”

“It’s terrible, but I’m not surprised,” said neighbor, Jean Frederick.

Some neighbors say people speeding through their neighborhood is a major issue.

“We need somebody here giving tickets,” said neighbor Kathleen Kline.

But Adams says speeders aren't a problem. What happened to his home came out of nowhere.

“Eight years I’ve been here, it never happened,” said Adams. “People don’t speed through here or nothing. It’s just out of the blue.”

Two people were taken to the hospital, including the driver and Adams' daughter, and treated for minor injuries. The driver is not being cited at this time. She told Midwest City police her brakes went out.
