Flash Flood Warning Issued For Central, SE Oklahoma

The National Weather Service In Norman has issued a Flash Flood Warning for counties in central and southeast Oklahoma, Wednesday night.

The National Weather Service in Norman has issued a Flash Flood Warning for counties in central and southeast Oklahoma, Wednesday night.

A Flash Flood Warning was issued for Seminole, Hughes and Pottawatomie counties until 2 a.m. Thursday, according to the National Weather Service in Norman.

At 11:05 p.m., emergency management reported heavy rain and flash flooding in areas east of Shawnee.

The area of heavy rainfall responsible for this flash flooding is slowly drifting east and will continue to pose a risk of flash flooding in the warned area.

Rainfall rates within this band are between one and two inches per hour, and up to two inches of rain have already fallen over the last hour or two.

Some locations that will experience flooding include Seminole, Wewoka and Earlsboro.

Additional rainfall amounts of two to three inches are possible in the warned area over the next few hours.

Around 10:45 p.m., News 9 received reports of homes flooded and cars underwater in the Shawnee area. The address provided was Benedict Street near the railroad overpass, as well as Bryan near Independence.
