A woman has escaped following five years of alleged abuse and 48 hours of torture. Right now, her boyfriend is in jail, and a trip to the bank may have saved the woman's life.

Jose Cuellar, 23, is accused of not only beating, but torturing and pointing a gun at his girlfriend's head. Most of it, in front of their three young children.

In the Enid police report, the victim says the violent beatings started in 2009 when she was pregnant with their second child.

Cuellar is accused of punching his girlfriend several times during the pregnancy, then quickly apologizing, saying he loved her. More than five years later, the abuse hasn't stopped.

“It’s the worst one I’ve seen in my career,” Capt. Jack Morris with the Enid Police Department said.

Tuesday was when the mother of three took a chance and ran into a local InterBank for help while the family was out. Police say she was covered in cuts, bruises and burns after being allegedly abused by Cuellar for a period of nearly three days.

“She looked at it as an opportunity to get away,” Morris said.

That opportunity now has Cuellar behind bars without bond.

The victim told police the weekend of abuse and torture started when Cuellar accused her of stealing his drugs and cheating on him at their Enid home.

According to the police report, a "torch was used to burn her arms, shoulder, back, and face." He "spray painted her all over her face and hair." It also states Cuellar even went as far as "urinating in a bottle and pouring it on her so she would smell like urine when they went out of the house."

Then a couple of nights before her escape, the victim said Cuellar told her, "it was her last night to live," and he was going to "kill her in the morning." She was hit multiple times in the head with a crescent wrench that night. The next morning, a gun was held to her head.

She pleaded for her life.

“One thing we don’t tolerate in this county, especially in this town, is domestic abuse,” Morris said.

Cuellar was found near Dillard's at Enid’s Oakwood Mall and arrested. He faces nine felonies and three misdemeanors for allegedly severely beating and torturing the mother of his children.
