Tulsa Police say they didn't get a lot of cooperation from the possible victims of a hostage situation at the Magnolia Manor Apartments - or the crowd who came out to watch the standoff.

There was a heavy police presence at a Tulsa Apartment complex Sunday afternoon in what may have been a hostage situation. Officers had weapons drawn outside the Magnolia Manor Apartments at 47th and Darlington.

Sergeant Doug Brown said police don't have enough evidence to arrest anyone as the parties involved aren't talking.

Patrol units and officers surrounded the complex after getting a tip that a man was holding a gun to a woman's head inside an apartment, according to police.

After some time, the woman and her infant child left the apartment unharmed.

"She either refused to corroborate what the citizen saw, or it never happened - we're not sure which, but we're taking great pains to find out," he said.

After the woman and baby emerged from the apartment, police were able to talk to the man who remained inside. They found a weapon but weren't able to "put it in anyone's hand," Brown said.

"We're going to write this up to see if any charges will be filed," he said.

Brown was also frustrated by crowd response to the police presence.

"We had a real problem with citizens not wanting to go back inside," he said. "If someone came out of there shooting, it would have been real ugly for the citizens."

Brown said officers wanted to thank the residents who did follow their commands.
