A suspect is on the run after police say he shot a Del City man at his home. Witnesses say the suspect held a family at gunpoint after they pulled into their driveway.

Neighbors say they were stunned to hear gunshots in their typically safe Del City subdivision. But once they saw the victim on the ground and the suspect in a getaway car, they say it was a planned attack.

"It's shocking. Things don't happen like this in our neighborhood. It's usually quiet, most of the time," said one neighbor.

Friday around 10:30 p.m. is when Del City Police got the call that a man was shot at his home on SE 27th St. The family of five living there had been having a garage sale during the day, when they left for the evening. The family says the suspect was crouched down right in front of this car, and when they walked up, they said he pointed at gun at them.

"He was just waiting and when they got there, he jumped out and they started fighting and then it led to the guy pulling out a gun and then shooting."

A neighbor, who did not want to be identified, said the victim chased after the suspect before he was shot three times right in front of their home.

"He was laying there. He wasn't moving. There was a lot of blood. I thought he was dead when I came up, but thankfully, he was alive and still talking."

The suspect ran down the street where a getaway car was waiting on him. Two young children, the victim's pregnant girlfriend and her teenage sister weren't harmed. But it was news to their grandfather Mike Perdue.

"I don't know where anybody's at, so I’m freaking out. I don't know if they're at the hospital or what," said Perdue, who had no idea his family was involved in the shooting but was relieved to learn they were okay.

"It is bad. I freaked out, well I heard it on the news last night, but I didn't think it was my grandkids."

The victim was shot in his back and wrist. He was taken to the hospital and is expected to recover.

The suspect is believed to be in a white Chevy Caprice. If you have any info, call police.
