Flash flood watch issued for much of Oklahoma

Posted: Updated:

NORMAN, Okla. (AP) - Much of Oklahoma will be under a flash flood watch through Friday afternoon as a thunderstorm complex moves into the state.

The National Weather Service says the watch goes into effect Wednesday night and covers western, central and southern Oklahoma, including the Oklahoma City area.

Forecasters say heavy rainfall is expected as the system moves east-southeast through the state. Rainfall of 2 to 4 inches is expected, with some areas seeing higher amounts.

The weather service says heavy rainfall and excessive runoff may lead to flooding and flash flooding.
