When Judy Dale purchased a new wallet from a local department store she did not expect to get another person's identification to go with it.

The burgundy, Liz Claiborne design she picked out seemed to be a perfect fit until she got it home.

"I ran to my husband and said ‘Look at what's in this brand new billfold,’" said Dale.

She was holding a worn social security card. Dale was truly concerned. How would something so sensitive -- a social security card -- be in her new wallet?

"I don't know how it got there and that’s a big mystery to me," said Dale.

She began researching the name on the card and discovered it was issued to a man in Edmond in 1941. Dale and her family scoured the internet in hopes of finding that man, only to learn he passed away in April 2014.

"We would like to get this back to the surviving spouse," Dale said.

Dale wanted to make sure the card did not end up in the wrong hands and wanted to know how the card ended up inside a wallet for sale at the local department store. She didn't know how to best go about tracking down the widow, so she called News9.

"If you ever find out how it got there let me know, because this is going to bug me for the rest of my life," said Dale.

Eventually, we tracked down the widow. She explained how she purchased the wallet and had accidentally returned the wallet to the store with her husband's social security inside. The widow was grateful Dale worked so hard to seek her out. However, she wished to remain anonymous. The two are now making arrangement to meet and return the card.
