A man has been charged with first-degree murder in the 2000 stabbing death of another man in Oklahoma City.

On Monday, authorities charged 42-year-old Jesus Ramon Truillo with first-degree murder in the stabbing death of Jose Antonio Garcia Galvan.

According to police, Galvan was stabbed to death in the 1200 block of S.W. 26th Street on Feb. 25, 2000. Officers were able to take several DNA swabs, specifically blood drops, from the crime scene.

Witnesses told police that Truillo and Galvan were fighting when Truillo allegedly stabbed the victim. Truillo then fled the scene.

A probable cause affidavit was completed and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Truillo was arrested in April 2014 in Dallas. Police said his blood sample was taken when he was arrested, and his DNA matched the swabs found at the scene of Galvan’s death back in 2000.
