Oral Roberts University head women’s basketball coach Misti Cussen has released her program’s full 2014-15 non-conference schedule. The Golden Eagles will play 13 non-conference games and two exhibitions as they prepare for the Summit League campaign.

“This schedule has it all, including regional rivalries, exciting travel destinations, opportunities to play at some of college basketball’s greatest venues and eight games in front of our fans at the Mabee Center,” said Cussen. “This is the best schedule that our staff could have put together to prepare our team for Summit League play, and our entire team can’t wait for November to get here.”

On Tuesday, Cussen announced her team’s first two regular season games, at Baylor on Nov. 14 and at Tennessee on Nov. 17. ORU last played the former National Champions in 2012-13.

The Golden Eagles will make their first of eight non-conference appearances at the Mabee Center on Saturday, Nov. 1, when they host Rockhurst in their exhibition opener. One week later, on Nov. 8, Cussen’s team will host in-state foe East Central to complete the exhibition part of the season. Both exhibition games will tip off at 2 p.m. CT.

After the regular season road games at Baylor and Tennessee, ORU will play their first regular season home game of 2014-15 on Friday, Nov. 24, when they host Tulsa in the annual PSO Mayor’s Cup game. ORU is 30-8 all-time against the Golden Hurricane but lost the 2013-14 matchup, 72-58, at TU’s Reynolds Center.

On Monday, Nov. 24, ORU resumes their regional rivalry with Missouri State as the Bears visit the Mabee Center. The two squads did not meet last year, although they have played nine times since 2003. ORU leads the overall series, 8-7.

ORU will be on the road for Thanksgiving, beginning on Wednesday, Nov. 26 when they head to Little Rock, Ark., for a meeting with UALR. The Trojans came from behind to clip ORU last season, 53-51, and the all-time series is tied at 2-2. This is the fourth consecutive season that the Golden Eagles will face the Trojans.

ORU will take part in the Southern Miss Thanksgiving Tournament, to be held November 28-29 in Hattiesburg, Miss. The Golden Eagles will face North Carolina A&T in their opening matchup before taking on either Austin Peay or the hosts from Southern Miss in the finale. Southern Miss is the only one of the three teams to have faced ORU before, an 82-66 Southern Miss win on Jan. 4, 1992 in Stillwater.

ORU is back home on Tuesday, Dec. 2 when they host Southwestern Christian University in the annual TTCU Best Field Trip ever game. Tipoff is at noon for the event, which annually attracts over 4,000 Tulsa-area students.

The Golden Eagles will host Eastern Michigan on Saturday, Dec. 6, and they welcome Grand Canyon to the Mabee Center on Friday, Dec. 12. Both squads are making their first appearance on an ORU women’s basketball schedule.

ORU busses to Manhattan, Kan., on Sunday, Dec. 14 to face Kansas State. The Wildcats are 5-2 all-time against ORU, although the two squads haven’t met since 1992.

Cussen’s club plays their final non-conference NCAA Division I opponent on Saturday, Dec. 20, when they travel to Madison, Wis., for a meeting with Wisconsin. ORU upset the Badgers in their only prior meeting, an 80-63 trampling on Nov. 13, 2011. The result still stands as ORU’s most recent victory over a power conference opponent.

The 2014-15 non-conference schedule concludes on Tuesday, Dec. 30, when NAIA member St. Gregory’s comes to the Mabee Center. ORU is 4-0 all-time against SGU, and tipoff of the fifth meeting is booked for 3 p.m. CT.

Tipoff times for ORU’s road games, as well as home contests against Tulsa, Missouri State, Eastern Michigan and Grand Canyon, have not been announced.

The 2014-15 non-conference schedule figures to again rank as one of the most difficult in NCAA Division I basketball. ORU’s 2012-13 non-conference schedule was ranked as the 13th-toughest in the nation by one publication, while the 2013-14 non-conference slate was ranked as high as 8th-toughest in the USA.

Summit League play begins in January for the Golden Eagles, and the league will release its full conference slate on Monday, July 14.

ORU features a young but talented team in 2014-15. The Golden Eagles return just two starters, sophomore Kaylan Mayberry and senior Tysia Manuel, but they welcome eight newcomers, including five OGBCA All-State selections.

Season tickets for the 2014-15 ORU women’s basketball season cost just $49. To purchase tickets today, call (918) 495-7546.
