Oklahoma City firefighters responded to two house fires in the metro area Wednesday morning. Officials believe both fires were sparked by lightning.

According to the fire department, just after 3 a.m., crews responded to a fire at a two-story house, located in the 3800 block of Cimarron Park near N.E. 36th Street and Sunnylane in Forest Park. A family was sleeping inside their home when it caught on fire.

Officials say the fire quickly consumed the house. But the family made it out safely.

Several other fire departments including Spencer were called to the scene to help.

At about 5 a.m., crews responded to a second fire at a three-story house in the 7400 block of Country Club Road in Oklahoma City. This fire is also believed to be caused by lightning.

Firefighters on the scene reported seeing heavy smoke and flames coming out of the home.
