A child found in a restaurant parking lot is reunited with her family. This all happened Sunday morning, when a couple traveling through Oklahoma found the 3-year-old girl in the parking lot of a local Waffle House.

The girl, named Sunday, lives with her family at a room at the Oak Tree Inn off South Meridian. And while they were sleeping, she managed to grab the door handle and slip out the front door. Sunday is safe and sound now, but she gave her mother and father the scariest wake-up call of their lives.

"Yeah she got up before we did," said Tiffany Mackillican, Sunday's mom. "I guess she got bored and wanted to go on an adventure or something."

Mackillican says she and her husband had worked a double-overnight shift the night before and woke up to find their daughter gone.

"It was very scary," Mckillican said. "I was panicking. I was freaking out. I was looking under the bed. I was looking everywhere."

Sunday managed to wander through the hotel complex and ended up at the parking lot off the Waffle House restaurant located right next door. Thankfully, she did not wander into the busy nearby street. A family traveling from Las Vegas to Kentucky found her and called 911.

CALLER: We just found a baby over at the Waffle House on Meridian.

911 OPERATOR: You found a baby?

CALLER: Yeah just walking through the parking lot.

911 OPERATOR: You have the baby with you?

CALLER: Yeah, I have her with me.

"I was just thankful that the people who found her were good people," said McKillican.

And even with the deadbolt on in the hotel room where they stay, the door can still be opened from the inside by anyone. So the family had a chain lock installed.

Both police and DHS checked out the parent's room and story. They determined they were not negligent and returned Sunday to them Sunday afternoon.
