OPSU Names Miner Head Baseball Coach

After spending the past two seasons as the Aggies' assistant softball coach, Jason Miner will step up to the plate as the head baseball coach for Oklahoma Panhandle State University pending approval of the Board of Regents in September.

The Pine Bluff, Ark. native comes with eight years coaching experience in softball and has also coached American Legion Baseball for 16-18 year-olds in the Pine Bluff area. Miner received a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from the University of Arkansas-Monticello in 2004, where he also played baseball; he earned a Masters of Business Administration degree from Piedmont College in 2007.

Miner feels that the transition from softball to baseball will be a smooth one as he grew up playing the sport and has stayed involved by working various baseball camps throughout the years. When asked his thoughts on the new position Miner said, "I am excited about the opportunity and look forward to getting closer with the team. We've got a good foundation for a competitive program; I hope to continue building the program to help us be competitive in the Heartland Conference."

Coach Miner also serves as the head cross country coach for OPSU and will balance both schedules in the fall. He is currently working on a fall ball schedule and is actively recruiting new players for the 2015 season. He and his wife Anja currently live in Goodwell and are looking forward to the exciting year ahead.
