TULSA, Oklahoma -

Tulsa Police say a man shot while fighting with a security guard at a South Tulsa apartment complex is expected to survive his wounds.

A search of court records shows there are several warrants out the arrest of Michael Evans, 23, who was shot in the abdomen.

The shooting took place around 9 p.m. Saturday, July 5, 2014, at the Barrington Apartments, East 65th Street and Mingo Road.

A security guard said he saw several men near a vending machine that was being vandalized and approached them, according to Sergeant Rex Mann with the Tulsa Police Department.

One of the men reportedly started threatening the guard and put him in a choke hold, Mann said. The guard ended up pulling his gun and shooting the man in the abdomen.

Evans ran off, but police found him on a front porch nearby. The wounded man was taken to a hospital where he had surgery. Mann said the wound was not life-threatening.

Police questioned the men with Evans then released them.

"There will be information presented to the district attorney who will decide if any charges will be filed," Mann said.

A search of court records shows a Michael Evans with the same date of birth was convicted of driving under the influence of alcohol and driving the wrong way on a one-way road, among other charges, in October of 2012.

Owasso Police arrested him in January of 2014 for reckless driving, eluding police, driving under suspension and violating the terms of his probation.
