Tulsa police are investigating a shooting that took place in North Tulsa Friday morning.

Officers say a man was outside his home in the 1700 block of North Oxford at about 10:45 a.m. when someone drove up on a Harley Davidson motorcycle.

Police say the motorcyclist parked about a house away, walked up and asked the man if he was a certain person. When the man answered, the motorcyclist shot him, police say.

The shooter then drove off.

EMSA tells News On 6 the victim is a 52-year-old man who is in serious condition.

Neighbor Jeff Taylor said he ran over to where the victim was lying and turned him over.

"He's drowning in blood, pretty much," Taylor said.

The victim was conscious and told Taylor he did not recognize the shooter.

Police initially believed the man was shot in the torso, but a neighbor says he was hit in the cheek.

"It was a small caliber, a revolver - .22 or .25, about the size of your pinky," Taylor said of the hole in his neighbor's cheek.

Police were questioning witnesses and gathering evidence at the scene.

"It sounded like fireworks going off," Taylor said. Taylor said everyone on the street knows each other and were getting ready for the 4th of July.

Police asked anyone with information about this crime to call Crime Stoppers at 918-596-COPS.
