REPORTS: Thunder Interested In Sebastian Telfair

Posted: Updated:

One position the Thunder is undoubtedly in the market for is a third point guard after the retirement of Derek Fisher at the end of this past season.

It appears Oklahoma City might be zeroing in on that option in the early stages of the free agent signing period.

Veteran point guard Sebastian Telfair posted a photo of himself on Tuesday in downtown Oklahoma City with the word "peace."

Telfair was the No. 13 overall selection in the 2004 NBA Draft by Portland after being one of the most highly-publicized high school point guards of all time, even sharing the cover of SLAM Magazine with LeBron James as the two biggest upcoming names in basketball.

Telfair was never able to live up to that level of hype but did carve out a niche for himself as a role player for several teams. He's had stints with the Blazers, Celtics, Timberwolves (twice), Clippers, Cavs, Suns and Raptors before spending this past season in China playing for Tianjin Ronggang.

The 6-foot Brooklyn native has career NBA scoring averages of 7.4 points, 3.5 assists and 0.7 steals per game as a 39 percent shooter from the floor, 32 percent from 3 and 78 percent from the foul line.

He has started 192 games in his 10-year career, highlighted by 94 in his initial two-year stint in Minnesota.

We will update this story as it develops.
