Edmond Family Hopes City Will Revise Rules After Dog Park Attack

An Edmond family hopes the city takes a closer look at the rules of its dog park after a teenager was bit Sunday.

"It was really terrifying," says Parker Rainey, who was bit on the leg and arm by a Blue Cane Corso.

The teenager was carrying her small dog as she left the large dog area when she was bitten twice.

"The owner tried to get him off me and that's when he went for my arm" says Rainey, who suffered puncture wounds.

Rainey can't think of anything that would have provoked the animal.

"I firmly believe any dog is capable of it," says Parker's mother, Gena Rainey.

That's why Parker's mom hopes the city will take a closer look, not at the dogs, but the people at the park.

"I'm not sure really small children should really be there," says Gena.

The Raineys are thankful the owner of the dog was strong enough to pull the dog off Parker. They think it could have been a lot worse.

The dog is being quarantined for 10 days, after which Edmond Animal Control will determine if the dog is "vicious". If that's the case, the owner may have to meet certain safety standards at home and in public to keep the animal.
