Sunday's win gave the RedHawks (44-40) a split in the current four-game series with the Storm Chasers (44-38) as the teams closed out their season series.

RedHawks starting pitcher Nick Tropeano (6-4) allowed three runs through the first three innings, then responded by throwing five scoreless frames. He struck out a season-high nine in the win and tied a season and career high by pitching eight innings.

Whit Merrifield led off the game with a double and later scored on a sacrifice fly by Johnny Giavotella for a 1-0 Omaha lead in the first inning. Merrifield finished the night 4-for-4 for the Storm Chasers.

With runners at the corners, a RBI single by Wates brought home the first run of the night for the RedHawks and tied the game, 1-1, in the bottom of the second. Carlos Perez then drew a walk to load the bases for Joe Sclafani, who grounded into a double play.

A RBI groundout by Giavotella, followed by a RBI single by Matt Fields, put Omaha in front 3-1 in the third inning.

The RedHawks then scored three times in the bottom of the frame to take a 4-3 lead.

Robbie Grossman scored when Domingo Santana grounded into a force out. The RedHawks then strung together three hits with two outs, including a RBI single by Tucker and a RBI bunt single by Wates for their first lead of the night. The hit by Wates loaded the bases again for Sclafani, who popped out to end the inning.

A RBI groundout by Wates in the bottom of the fifth inning scored Hernandez for a 5-3 RedHawks advantage.

The RedHawks led off the bottom of the sixth inning with back-to-back doubles by Torreyes and Krauss. Krauss collected his 21st RBI in 22 games for a 6-3 RedHawks lead.

The RedHawks added a run in the bottom of the seventh inning on a hit by Torreyes that scored Perez for a 7-3 lead. Grossman also tried to score on the play, but was tagged out at home.

Oklahoma City added three more runs in the eighth inning, including two on a Tucker single, for a 10-3 lead.

RedHawks reliever Andrew Robinson tossed a scoreless ninth inning, allowing one hit.

Despite Sunday's win by the RedHawks, Omaha won the season series, 9-7.

The RedHawks next return to the road for a four-game series at Colorado Springs that opens at 8:05 p.m. Central time Monday at Security Service Field.
