Still No Arrests In 2013 Murder Of 94-Year-Old OKC Woman

Next Saturday marks one year since an elderly woman in northwest Oklahoma City was attacked and robbed inside her home.

She later died from her injuries, and the man responsible for the crime is still on the run. Detectives are hoping for new leads in the case, but they haven't had much luck.

Police say Evelyn Goodall, 94, called 911 for help on July 5, 2013. Officers arrived to her home near NW 20th and Grand Boulevard to find the elderly woman lying near the front door covered in blood.

Goodall told detectives a man walked through her back door, grabbed her, and threw her to the ground where he beat her repeatedly. The man robbed her and took off. Goodall was taken to the hospital, but died two days later.

Neighbors tell News 9 Goodall was the sweetest woman you could ever meet. She lived in the neighborhood for nearly 60 years.

"It feels like there's a void," neighbor Luis Freites said. "Every single morning that I would walk out of here to go to work, she was there telling me have a blessed day or have a good day."

Freites lives across the street from Goodall's home. Her home won't be abandoned much longer, as new neighbor Jim Crites is moving in. 

"The neighborhood is a safe neighborhood," Crites said. "I'm really excited about making this home, the place that it was and the place that it can be."

But with Goodall's tragedy looming, the Crites hopes for her justice.

"I've spoken to her nephew and the people hear say she was the most graceful, kind person you could meet," Crites said. "She liked to watch the birds from her windows, so it's really unfortunate that it happened, and that they haven't caught him."

Police do not have any suspects in this case. The only suspect description they have is that the attacker was a tall, thin white man.
