Before you head to the polls, there are things you should and should not do. The first thing you can do to make your voting process go smooth is to be prepared.

There is a sample ballot on the election's board's website and make sure you know where your polling place is. You'll need to show proof of identity.

The law requires every voter must show a valid photo ID issued by the federal, state or tribal government. You can also vote using a voter identification card.

Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and lines are the longest before work, during the lunch hour, and after work. You can save time by voting in "off-hours" like from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Oklahoma has closed primaries. Only people who are registered as Republicans can vote in the Republican primary and those registered as Democrats may vote in the Democratic primary.
