OKLAHOMA CITY -

Prosecutors introduce wiretap evidence against Fabion Brown Monday. Brown is defending himself against 2 counts of murder and conspiracy in the 2012 death of his estranged wife and her unborn baby.

Prosecutors began with testimony from a handful of friends and acquaintances of the victim, Jessica McPherson Brown. Towards the end of the day, the focus shifted to the defendant friends, who were put on the stand to discredit Fabion Brown's claims of innocence.

Mindi Harmon overcame her fears when she testified against her former friend Fabion Brown in court.

"Having to face him and talk to him after all of this has gone on that's the scariest part," said Harmon. "I don't want to be a part of this at all, but I know we have to do what we have to do in order to get justice."

Harmon told the jury about the conversation she had with Emily Matheson, who is Brown's girlfriend and alleged co-conspirator in the murder for hire plot.

With hindsight, Harmon said she never would have been friends with them, but was able to provide police with a possible motive for the murder.

"I think it was for those kids," said Harmon.

Harmon said the couple tried to use her as an alibi that night. According to wiretap evidence, Brown also tried to have a different friend lie to police about where he was on the night his estranged wife was murdered.

In the recorded calls with a friend, Brown also said he was considered the prime suspect because he was the husband of the victim. Brown objected to the calls being played in court, but did not win that fight.

News 9 asked Brown for a comment, but he declined.

Brown alleged co-conspirator Emily Matheson is expected to testify Tuesday morning. She pled guilty to the crime and received a lesser sentence in exchange for her testimony.
