The victim in a hit-and-run crash in northwest Oklahoma City has died from their injuries at a local hospital, Sunday evening.

Emergency crews were dispatched to the scene of the accident near NW 23rd St. and N. Geraldine Ave. just after 3 p.m.

EMSA transported that victim via ambulance to OU Medical Center where they succumbed to their injuries.

Police say the victim was walking across NW 23rd St. at Geraldine when a car driving at a high rate of speed hit him and drove off.  A witness in the area saw the whole thing unfold.

"He was bleeding really bad. I've never seen anything like that," said witness Charles Combs.

Charles Combs calls what he saw a violent hit and run.

"I see a car strike an old man and the old man like goes up high up in the air, really high up in the air and lands on the ground," said Combs.

Combs was walking into a nearby Subway when he says a car came out of nowhere.

"As the old man is in the air, the car like backs up, and when the old man hits the ground, the car just spins around him and just takes off," said Combs.

According to Oklahoma City police, the man was leaving the Braum's across the street. Combs says he heard the car's horn before the man was struck.

"It was a red and black car. I don't know the make or model, but if I seen the car again, I would know," said Combs.

"It's not just a plain colored car. It has some unique identifiers to it. So hopefully somebody in the public has seen this car in your neighborhood, or seen the car driving this afternoon somewhere," said Lt. Jason Samuel.

"The windshield on that car is definitely messed up for sure," said Combs.

Authorities are looking for a black, 4-door, Mitsubishi, Honda or Mazda. It has a red bumper, grill and a stripe down the side. It will have heavy damage to the windshield and it's missing a driver side window.

If you have any information, call police immediately.
