I suggested last Wednesday that Oklahoma City should put the state on notice that it's running out of time to complete the American Indian Culture Center along the Oklahoma River.

Well, apparently somebody was listening, because the private donors have put museum officials on the clock.

Several heavy hitters here in the metro committed to kicking in $40 million for the project, if the state would match it and finish the museum. That money has been dangling out there for a couple of years.

Once again, the Legislature has failed to come up with the money to finish what it started.

Well now, those private donors have warned the state that their generosity has a time limit, and it's 30 more days.

The state agency, overseeing the stalled project, has one month to come up with a viable plan to get the project finished.

Reports are Oklahoma City is also exploring its options after donating the land for the project, but they aren't commenting.

I'm beginning to think more and more that this thing is going to fall into Oklahoma City's lap, and if it does, it's become such a boondoggle it'll be a real challenge to win the support of the public to finish it, but I think it should be.
