Thieves break into a state senator's home, but they left a crucial piece of evidence behind that has already lead to one arrest.

Those thieves hit the home of Senator Kyle Loveless and two of his neighbors, near S.W. 89th and May Avenue, back in March. They took thousands of dollars worth of electronics and jewelry, but they left behind a phone that had a key piece of evidence -- a fingerprint.

"It literally was like an episode of CSI," Senator Loveless, who represents District 45 in southwest Oklahoma City, said.

Senator Loveless said police found that cell phone right in his front yard.

Turns out, there was also a partial fingerprint left behind from when the thieves broke in through the front door.

You can still see a dusting of the powder police used to lift the print.

"Basically came home and noticed the front door was completely smashed," said Loveless. "They literally had kicked it in!"

Those fingerprints led them to Christopher Orlando Hendricks, who now stands accused of breaking into the senator's home and stealing his valuables.

"They left TVs there," said Loveless. "But then they took the IPads and cell phones and things that they could easily hawk."

Senator Loveless said he just wants one thing back, the garnet and diamond ring he gave his wife for their 10-year anniversary.

"And that's something I'm hoping police will find," said Loveless. "I'm hoping we will get that tracked down!"

Loveless credits the Oklahoma City Police Department detectives for finding the phone, the prints and Hendricks. He just hopes he tracks down the thieves who hit his neighbors too.

Hendricks is currently out on a $10,000 bond. He does have a court date set for later in June.
