The Oklahoma City RedHawks were unable to overcome an early four-run deficit and closed out their season series against the Memphis Redbirds with a 6-3 loss Tuesday at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.

Memphis built a 4-0 lead through three innings, as the RedHawks fell to 10-6 against the Redbirds on the season in front of a crowd of 3,920.

Oklahoma City (32-28) closed out an eight-game homestand by scoring all three of its runs between the seventh and eight innings.

The RedHawks finished the homestand with a 3-5 record, and finished with a split in their current series with Memphis (29-30).

Eight of the Redbirds' nine hits Tuesday went for extra bases, including two triples.

Audry Perez hit a sacrifice fly to bring home the first run of the night for Memphis in the second inning. Mike O'Neill followed with a RBI triple when outfielder Austin Wates dove to make a catch on the line drive in left field, but missed the ball for a 2-0 Memphis lead.

The Redbirds extended their lead in the third inning, hitting three doubles. RBI doubles by Stephen Piscotty and Pete Kozma added two runs for a 4-0 advantage.

RedHawks catcher Max Stassi homered on a fly ball to right-center field for the first run of the night for the RedHawks in the seventh. The home run was Stassi's sixth of the season, and his first since April 20, to cut the Memphis lead to 4-1.

Two batters later, Ronny Torreyes singled with two outs, then stole second. He advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on a throwing error by Memphis catcher Perez, cutting the Redbird lead to two runs.

RedHawks starter Rudy Owens (2-4) pitched 7.0 innings, allowing four runs on six hits in the loss. He did not issue a walk and struck out four. He retired the final 11 Memphis batters he faced.

Memphis starter Tim Cooney (6-4) allowed two runs (one earned) on six hits over 6.2 innings. The PCL Pitcher of the Week walked two and struck out two in the win.

Memphis regained a four-run lead in the top of the eighth inning when Greg Garcia and Pete Kozma scored on a Jermaine Curtis single.

RedHawks Domingo Santana and Gregorio Petit hit back-to-back singles with two outs in the eighth. They advanced on a wild pitch with Stassi batting. Stassi then drew a walk to load the bases for pinch hitter Matt Duffy. A wild pitch by Dean Kiekhefer allowed Santana, the Astros Triple-A Minor League Player of the Month for May, to score and cut the Memphis lead to 6-3.

After having Wednesday off, the RedHawks open a four-game series at Omaha, starting at 7:05 p.m. Thursday at Werner Park.
