LOGAN COUNTY, Oklahoma -

It was a close call for a Logan County Deputy Sunday night after he was shot at by some people driving down a dirt road.

The group then led the deputy on a chase before crashing their truck.

The deputy has been identified as Daniel Fulton.

News 9 learned Fulton is relatively new to the force. When the bullet hit the windshield, some of the glass fragments were stuck to Fulton's face. Doctors had to remove it at the hospital, but he's expected to be okay.

Investigators say Deputy Fulton was driving along the stretch of Seward Road near the bridge when all of a sudden a bullet came flying.

It came just inches from hitting him in the head and the chase began.

It came to a stop just across from the railroad tracks in front of a green house where the truck crashed.

News 9 found evidence scattered all over the front law, including a pistol left behind in the grass.

"It was a bad deal," said Chief Deputy Richard Stephens with the Logan County Sheriff's Office.

Stephens says his deputy is truly lucky to be alive.

"Luckily, the bullet deflected inside the vehicle and didn't hit him and ended up stuck in part of the vehicle," said Stephens.

The suspects were driving in a Toyota Tundra. The car ended up trashed and had to be hauled off to a wrecking yard.

The five men are facing jail time for endangering the Logan County Deputy.

Carl Gallian, 47

Christian Gallian, 19

Albert Holcomb, 24

Andrew Duncomb, 19

Allen Valentine, 19

Carl Gallian, Albert Holcomb and Allen Valentine had to be taken to the hospital for their injuries.

Investigators say Duncomb and Valentine, tried to run after the wreck, but were caught a short time later.

Right now all five men are facing shooting with intent to kill and more charges could be filed.
