Posted: Updated:

The Omaha Storm Chasers broke a scoreless tie in the eighth inning and went on to a 2-0 win against the Oklahoma City RedHawks Wednesday in front of 3,794 at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.

The Storm Chasers (26-26) continued their winning ways in Bricktown, recording their seventh win in their last eight games at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.

Omaha pitchers Clayton Mortensen, Casey Coleman (2-0), Wilking Rodriguez and Spencer Patton combined for the shutout, as the RedHawks (29-25) tied a season-low with three hits in their third shutout loss of the season.

Paulo Orlando tripled for the Storm Chasers on a line drive to deep right field in the eighth inning. He then scored the first run of the night on a RBI single by Christian Colon.

Francisco Pena singled in the top of the ninth inning, and a throwing error by Kike Hernandez on the play allowed Carlos Peguero, who walked, to score for a 2-0 Omaha lead.

Rudy Owens made his first appearance for the RedHawks since making his Major League debut with the Houston Astros and pitched a season-high 6.2 scoreless innings. He allowed four hits, no walks and struck out seven to tie a season high in the no decision. Josh Zeid (2-2) was charged with the loss.

L.J. Hoes collected two hits in his first game with Oklahoma City, as the Storm Chasers have now held the RedHawks scoreless through 16 consecutive innings.

The RedHawks continue their series against Omaha with a 7:05 p.m. game Thursday at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.
