McLOUD, Oklahoma -

A 25-year-old Watonga woman who was battling terminal cancer passed away on Thursday.

You might remember Ashley Baker, who months ago was diagnosed with a terminal form of skin cancer, was pregnant with her son Dawson at the time.

Baker refused chemotherapy treatment while she was pregnant because of the threat it presented to the baby. Dawson was born, healthy.

After giving birth, Baker was accepted into a cancer treatment program at the world-renowned M.D. Cancer Hospital in Houston. Because of her illness though, finances were low. That is when Oklahomans stepped up and helped provide the money for treatment with a medical fund at Tinker Federal Credit Union.

"I'm going through what I'm going through," Baker said after undergoing treatment at an Oklahoma Cancer Treatment Center. "But I know I am blessed with what I have, even if it's not going to be much longer."

Baker lost her fight against cancer early Thursday morning. Her funeral is set for 10 a.m. on Saturday at Emmanuel Baptist Church, located at 16901 S. Fishmarket Rd. in McLoud, Okla. And there is still a fund set up in her name at Tinker Federal Credit Union.
