On Tuesday, a woman, her husband, and a Good Samaritan re-lived what happened inside Moore Medical Center one year ago.

Shayla Taylor was in labor on the second floor of the hospital when the tornado hit May 20, 2013.

Her husband, Jerome, was in the cafeteria on the first floor when the twister hit.

Jerome said Alan Coffee, a salesman at nearby Fort Thunder Harley Davidson, crawled through a first-floor opening in the mangled building and appeared out of nowhere.

Jerome said together he and Coffee used flashlights to find their way up to the second floor.

Jerome said they found his wife in an operating room that had one of its walls sucked out by the storm. Three nurses had shielded Shayla from debris.

Coffee said with help from a firefighter's backboard, he and Jerome were able to carry Shayla out of Moore Medical Center to an ambulance. Two hours later, Shayla gave birth to Braeden Taylor, who Tuesday turned one year old.

"He's a great kid, he's active," she said. "He's about like a tornado."

The Taylors have become friends with Alan Coffee, who said he just did what a lot of other Oklahomans did that day…helped others.
