Emergency crews were called to a Tulsa home in the 6400 block of South 88th Place early Saturday afternoon after a man came close to drowning.
Neighbor Josh Sala was mowing his parents' yard and had just run out of weedeater line. That's when he heard a woman calling for help from the house next door.
"Sounded panicked," he said.
Sala said he jumped over the fence and saw a man lying on the bottom of the pool.
"I stripped down to my boxers and dove in and pulled him out," he said. "My dad came over and helped do compressions while I did breaths."
The paramedics arrived and took over. Sala said some color had returned to the man's face after the CPR, but he wasn't sure if the man would make it or not.
Sala also told News On 6 that the man had health issues and may have fallen and hit his head.
"I've met the guy plenty of times; he's a super nice guy," he said. Sala said the man lived there to help care for his elderly mother.
The 54-year-old man was taken to the hospital in serious condition, EMSA confirmed.
