RedHawks Get Back to Back Homers In Win Over Sky Sox

A season-high three home runs – including back-to-back solo shots in the seventh inning – propelled the Oklahoma City RedHawks to a 6-2 win Monday against the Colorado Springs Sky Sox in front of a crowd of 3,936 at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.

Gregorio Petit, Domingo Santana and Jon Singleton all hit solo home runs for the RedHawks (21-18), who ended a two-game losing skid.

RedHawks starting pitcher Brett Oberholtzer (1-0) threw seven shutout innings, holding the Sky Sox to five hits and striking out nine in his first game with Oklahoma City since being optioned by the Houston Astros. He struck out the final four batters he faced in the win against the Sky Sox (18-19).

RedHawks shortstop Petit homered on a line drive into the left field bleachers in the fourth inning to break a scoreless tie. The home run was his third of the season.

Oklahoma City then scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Catcher Max Stassi tripled on a fly ball to the fence in front of the visiting bullpen in right field. He then scored on a Petit double for a 2-0 edge.

A RBI single by designated hitter Kike Hernandez – Oklahoma City's third straight hit of the inning – scored Petit for a 3-0 RedHawks lead with one out.

Infielder Ronald Torreyes later reached on a missed catch error and Hernandez scored for a 4-0 lead.

Oklahoma City's final two runs came on home runs in the seventh inning.

RedHawks outfielder Santana homered on a fly ball to the top of the tall wall in right field for a 5-0 RedHawks lead. The homer was his fourth of the season.

Singleton followed with his 12th home run of the season on a shot past the visiting bullpen and onto the lawn in right field for a 6-0 RedHawks lead.

RedHawks reliever Rhiner Cruz pitched the final two innings, allowing two runs on two hits in the top of the ninth inning.

Colorado Springs broke the shutout with a RBI single by Jackson Williams. Drew Garcia then grounded into a force out and Ben Paulsen scored.

The RedHawks outhit the Sky Sox, 11-7.

The RedHawks conclude their four-game series against the Sky Sox, at 11:05 a.m. Tuesday in a field trip day game at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.
