Climate Records Show Oklahoma Divisions In Driest Stretch Since 1921

Heavy rain will continue in eastern Oklahoma for the rest of the evening into the overnight tonight. Unfortunately, most of central and western Oklahoma missed out on the high rain totals, but many areas picked up a couple of tenths.

Looking at the different climate divisions across the state, many locations are seeing the driest January 1 - May 11 stretch on record. Climate division records have been kept since 1921. The central Oklahoma climate division is 7.74 inches of rain below average for the calendar year. Making this the driest stretch for this time period since 1921. These totals do not include the rain that we have received today, so the southeast division will likely change some.

Overnight tonight showers and thunderstorms will continue in eastern Oklahoma with lows dropping into the mid and upper 40s.

Tuesday will be another cool day with highs in the mid and upper 60s and north winds at 15 to 25 mph. There will be a slight chance of rain in southern Oklahoma Tuesday with a 20 percent chance across the Oklahoma City metro in the afternoon hours.
