The University of Central Oklahoma Chamber Orchestra has been invited to perform three concerts in Bavaria, Germany, with world-renowned guitarist Stefan Grasse May 16-18.

As a part of the invitation, the student orchestra, alongside UCO music faculty members, will perform the world premiere of award-winning German composer Heinrich Hartl's concerto for guitar, orchestra and percussions.

During the three-concert series, the orchestra will also perform a collection of pieces by American composers, including a piece by well-known Oklahoma contemporary composer of classical music Roy Harris.

"This will truly be a life changing experience for these students for multiple reasons," said Hong Zhu, D.M.A., conductor for the UCO Chamber Orchestra.

According to Zhu, these students will perform professional, world-renowned venues throughout Bavaria, alongside seasoned professionals in their field, to audience members who have bought their tickets up to five months in advance and to critics who will be reviewing the concerts in the daily German papers.

"These chamber orchestra students will be getting a real first-hand experience of what it is like to be professional musician, performing in the cultural center of the symphonic realm, Germany." Zhu concluded.
