The Oklahoma Insurance Department is hoping to teach senior citizens a few tricks for fighting criminals who prey on the elderly.
Commissioner John Doak announced Wednesday a series of conferences that will be held across the state to help seniors protect themselves from being swindled. The conferences will be held throughout the state in June and July.
"These conferences are a great opportunity for seniors to learn how to protect themselves from fraud," said Commissioner Doak. "We want to empower seniors to avoid frauds and scams by knowing what to look for and how to fight back."
Anti-fraud experts from multiple agencies will address Medicare fraud, home repair scams, identity theft, credit card fraud and others.
Each conference is free and open to the public. There is a $30 fee for insurance professionals seeking a continuing education credit.
