LOGAN COUNTY, Oklahoma -

Firefighters hope to ramp up the fight in Logan County as the wind goes down overnight.

Thousands of acres have burned since Sunday in what started as a controlled burn. There is one death and more than 30 structures are damaged. Governor Fallin is issuing a burn ban for 36 counties.

The Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management says several wildfires are still burning and that the weather forecast suggests conditions will worsen.

In Pawnee County, officials said Monday that a wildfire jumped a fire line and was threatening about 25 homes. Residents were evacuated while firefighters from 20 departments battled the blaze, which claimed 1,500 acres.

In Woodward County, a fire that's two miles wide and eight miles long was still burning Monday. The fire is east of Woodward near Highway 412. Also, a fire in Dewey County near Seiling has re ignited.

Weather conditions Tuesday are expected to be conducive to more fires. Southerly winds of 25 to 30 mph are forecast, temperatures could reach 100 degrees in places and humidity will be below 10 percent for much of the day.
