A Spencer man told police he said "go away" to the meat salesman, and he took a shot at him.

According to the police report, on April 26, a 50-year-old man called police and said he went to a front door in the 7600 block of N. Westminster Rd. to sell meat, and the homeowner shot him. He then told police he was heading to Deaconess Hospital to treat the mild injury.

Oklahoma City police said they went to the Spencer residence and found multiple signs around the property that stated, "Beware of Everything," "Private Property, No Trespassing," "Beware of Dog" and "Controlled Area – It is unlawful to enter this area without permission of the installation commander."

Police said they also observed the homeowner, 33-year-old Glyn Mearanto, on the front porch cleaning up broken glass from the front door.

According to the report, Mearanto told police he saw a strange truck in his driveway and an unknown man at his mother's next door trailer. He said he was fearful, because he was alone with his daughter. Mearanto said he grabbed his .410 shotgun and went to the front door. That is when the meat salesmen knocked on his door. Mearanto said he opened the front door, but left the storm door shut. He told police he said "go away," and soon after, a shot was fired at the salesman. Mearanto said he believed he grazed the salesman's shirt but did not cause injury.

The reporting officer said Mearanto was "very cooperative," provided his concealed carry permit and pointed out the signs. Police contacted Deaconess Hospital later that day, and they said they did not have a gunshot victim check in. Police called the salesman's number and said there was no answer and a voicemail could not be left.

The police report states the salesman called back on April 28 and asked to make a report. The reporting officer asked the man why he didn't go to the hospital, and he said because he was with a friend who had warrants. The salesman also said his boss told him to make a report, and a co-worker told him "he could get a million dollars out of this."

According to the Oklahoma County Inmate Query, Mearanto was booked into the Oklahoma County Jail Thursday on an Assault with a Deadly Weapon charge. His bail is set at $7,500.
