NORMAN, Oklahoma -

New information has been learned about a suspicious death investigation ongoing in Norman. Police uncovered a body in a shallow grave there earlier this week.

A missing person report is the first in a series of oddities surrounding Virgil Alexander's disappearance. His family alerted Norman Police on April 17, but the report shows Alexander may have gone missing as early as November of last year.

"Went to the residence, made some inquiries and ultimately things did not add up. There were some discrepancies," said Norman Police Capt. Tom Easley

The investigation eventually led officers back to Alexander's home with a search warrant. On April 25 they found a makeshift grave in the yard of his home on East Robinson in Norman. There investigators uncovered Alexander's body wrapped in plastic, stuffed inside a plastic tote. Police would only say they are investigating.

"Right now I am not allowed to mention any suspects that we may have in mind," said Easley.

That's because they do not know right now if Alexander was killed or if he died from natural causes.

"We do not, at this point, have a cause and manner of death provided by the ME. Once we get that we can make some more decisions as to which directions things would go."

Police say, either way, the circumstances are suspicious. News 9 is told Alexander lived at his Norman home with a roommate. Neighbors say they were reclusive. We were unable to reach the roommate in time for this report.
